Director of Music Robert Busiakiewicz Nominated for the Leslie Bell Prize
The clergy, staff, and parishioners of St. James Cathedral extend their congratulations to Robert Busiakiewicz, Director of Music for St. James Cathedral on his nomination for the Leslie Bell prize. The Leslie Bell prize recognizes excellence in emerging choral conducting.
A jury of up to five recognized Ontario-based music professionals is responsible for short-listing and selecting the award winner. The nominees consist of individuals recognized locally and regionally by their peers (those within the same artistic tradition and/or discipline) and recognized for his or her contribution to the musical field.
Previous winners include musicians who have worked at the Cathedral such as Brainerd Blyden-Taylor, Edward Moroney and David Fallis as well as prominent choral conductors in the city such as Stephanie Martin and Robert Cooper. The $10,000 prize will be awarded by the Ontario Arts Council in September.
