Tuesday, June 11, 2:00pm-4:00pm: Elder Abuse Prevention Day with Mary Shkoury
All are warmly invited to join us as we mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day and welcome our speaker Mary Shkoury from Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario. This provincial, charitable, non-profit organization is focused on supporting the Ontario Strategy to Combat Elder Abuse. Do join us for what promises to be an interesting afternoon as we increase our awareness of this important problem. No RSVP necessary.
Mary has been working in the health and wellness sectors for 20 years with a focus on seniors’ health and safety. She graduated from York University with a specialized Honours BA in Sociology and completed her studies in Gerontology (Aging & Health) at Queen’s University. Her passion and commitment for caring for Canadian seniors’ rights has led her to her role with Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario, where her mission is to see our province continue to be a safe place for our seniors to live, be heard, and be free of elder abuse.
Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario: Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario is a provincial, charitable, non-profit organization focused on supporting the implementation of the Ontario Strategy to Combat Elder Abuse since 2002. The framework of the strategy focuses on service coordination, building the local capacity of front-line workers, caregivers and community networks by providing public education and training of professionals/service providers and families of seniors to raise awareness of elder abuse issues.
