Ministry Highlight – Children & Young Adult Ministries

The Children, Youth and Families Ministry is a growing ministry at St James Cathedral. With an average of 14 children involved in Sunday School each week, this ministry focuses on supporting families and children in their faith formation, from preschoolers through Grade 8. They held a Christmas Pageant in 2018 for the first time in over twenty years at the Cathedral, and they are looking forward to the next one on Sunday, December 22. Additionally, this ministry supports participation in worship through resources for large feast day services.

Youth ministry is in formation with some of the Cathedral’s youth attending the Diocesan Youth Retreat the past two Septembers, and as a result, a growing connection is forming with youth between grades 6 and 12.

Regeneration is an open, welcoming and inclusive space for everyone in the 20s-30s age group, irrespective of where they may be on their spiritual journey. This ministry gathers on the first and third Sundays of the month for soup and bible study, and occasionally throughout the year for other events.

Regeneration brings together people from varied backgrounds, who break bread together and seek answers from the scriptures, identifying how it relates to their lives and how it is manifested in today’s world. From picnics to pub nights, it offers fellowship and a sense of belonging to many who are seeking a path of clarity or truth.
