Pray for Peace in Palestine & Israel

October 17, 2023

Dear friends,

As we gather in this vigil, praying for Peace, Reconciliation, and an end to the war in Palestine and Israel, we come with open hearts and unwavering hope that one day there will be peace. In this moment, we stand in solidarity with the spiritual seed of Abraham, Muslims, Jews, and Christians, who are the joint stewards of the Land of the Holy One. As we light our votive candles, we stand as beacons of light in a world often overshadowed by darkness. Our presence here is indicative of our commitment to healing, understanding, and forging a path toward lasting peace. May our collective resolve be a testament to the power of compassion, empathy, and the belief that, together, we can mend the wounds of conflict and sow the seeds of harmony. In this shared moment of prayer, may we find strength, and in our shared vision of a more peaceful future, may we find purpose.

With love and peace,

St. James Cathedral

God of Peace, who calls us to peace, shine the light of your presence on the land of the Holy One, where the spiritual seed of Abraham, both Muslims and Jews, are its joint stewards, and continues to be broken by war and violence. May the beams of that light show the way of justice and mercy and a vision of peace, turning hatred into love, fear into trust, despair into hope. In Christ, we pray. Amen.
