September 27 at 10:30am: Refugee Walk-a-thon 2025

Mark your calendars! Marjorie Rudder Walks for Refugees

I want to support!

The St. James and Community Refugee Committee is celebrating its 10th anniversary of sponsoring refugee resettlement with a fundraising walkathon on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the Edwards Gardens, Toronto, Ontario located at 777 Lawrence Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario beginning at 10:30am.

Marjorie Rudder, long-time parishioner and supporter of the refugee committee, will lead us through the paths as we walk in support of this important work.

The committee has completed 9 sponsorships of individuals and families since its creation in 2015 to respond to the Syrian Civil War Crisis.  Since that time, individuals and families from Syria, Iran, Cameroon, Eritrea and Afghanistan have begun new lives in Canada.

The work of the committee is undertaken solely based on donations to this important work and through parish and community-based volunteers.

The ongoing work of the committee is dependent on fundraising.  Our goal is to raise $15,000.  We hope to welcome our 10th sponsorship in this fall – a young man from Chad.  Two other sponsorships await processing by the Government of Canada – a single man from Iran who lives in daily peril of arrest and deportation in Turkey and the reunification of a mother and four children with the husband/father who was deemed a refugee in 2023.

We need your help to continue this important work.

Join us as we walk through the gardens, or support us by donating to this worthy cause here.
