Our New Dean

The Very Rev’d Dr. Stephen Hance was installed as the 14th Rector of the Cathedral Church of St. James, and the 9th Dean of Toronto by The Right Reverend Andrew Asbil, Bishop of Toronto, on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

Dean Stephen will begin his ministry with us on January 15, 2024. When you have the opportunity, please introduce yourself to Dean Stephen and make him and Jacqui, his wife, welcome in our St. James community.

We look forward to Dean Stephen’s leadership as he shares his gifts and experience with us as our Cathedral continues to be “a light in the city” and a place of welcome to everyone who comes through our doors, and to all to whom we go, crossing boundaries of gender and ethnic identity, sexual orientation, age, and culture, for the sake of the Reign of God.
